Six years since inception, we at MOSIP find ourselves with 110 million residents registered worldwide, and counting, on MOSIP-based systems and having received unprecedented support from countries, stakeholders, and colleagues from around the world.
Central to our vision is the recognition that one of MOSIP’s primary roles has been in connecting the diverse set of experts who need to align and work together in order to create and establish meaningful Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). This key goal is illustrated through events like MOSIP Connect, initiatives like the MOSIP Experience Centre and MOSIP Academy, on-going collaborations with international DPGs and the nurturing of an extensive ecosystem of country, technology, and academic partners…
And now, the launch of mosip16.9: A DPI Journal by MOSIP.
Introducing mosip16.9
Target 16.9 under the SDG is to provide legal identity for all, including birth registration, by 2030. While this target specifically underscores the importance of legal identity, several other targets under SDG #16 are directly served by it as well, through secure and accountable systems and solutions that promote inclusion, security, and access to rights and services.
Today, with several key questions and debates emerging on the dimensions of digital identity systems, mosip16.9 is the projects offering to the DPI community in service of SGD #16 – a dedicated space for informed discussions, debates, and deep dives on vital themes shaping the digital landscape.
This space is a long-term initiative, aiming to engage with, and demystify, the nuanced questions around digital ID as a part of larger digital public infrastructure. The space also hopes to become a valuable resource for those looking to understand the web of technology, policy, legislation, and human-centric conversations that surround us and our work.
Collaboration has been integral to MOSIP's operations since its inception, and this space will be no exception. Aligned with our key principles, mosip16.9 welcomes guest contributions from industry experts, academics, collaborators, and more. We envision mosip16.9 to be a collaborative hub where diverse perspectives converge to contribute to the current discourse on digital identity. At the heart of these conversations also lies a commitment to transparency about MOSIP’s mission and methods; readers will gain insights into what, how, and why we do what we do at MOSIP.
Our goal is to facilitate honest and informed discussions at a time where DPI holds unprecedented significance. We hope to build a forum that mirrors our commitment to progress and our adaptability in responding to the evolving dynamics of the digital identity landscape.
We look forward to watching this space grow and become a forum for 101s, tech-talks, whitepapers, interviews, and more. Write to us at communications@mosip.io to explore how you can contribute to mosip16.9 or co-author a piece with MOSIP.
